Violin Shop Lou had played professionally for nearly thirty years before meeting Amos Hargrave and finding an interest in instrument repair and restoration. Under Amos' tutelage, Lou began simple repairs and set-ups on instruments played by students of the Tulsa Public School system. After three years, Tulsa's need for a full-service dealer and restorer of fine and student instruments was realized with the opening of The Shop.

Amos Hargrave has continued as a mentoring influence on The Shop, lending his expertise as one of America's foremost makers of stringed instruments.

Nice looking shop just from looking into through windows as they were closed in late evening.

I was glad that, I could take my friend to take a picture with his brother in the Tulsa Violin Shop with his two friends watching.

Lou is the most incredible, passionate person I've ever seen. he was so humble and encouraging to a beginner. he told me "well, are you having fun?" as a response to my apologies for coming in with a cheap instrument. he put everything into perspective for me. it truly is about love for making music. this man is someone who lives that every day. even only meeting him one single time, he is one of my biggest inspirations. I want to be like him when i grow up.

Absolutely the best experience with violins here. Just be mindful of the operating hours if you don't live nearby.

I've dealt with Lou on several occasions & he's always been absolutely great! He's professional as well as personable, knowledgeable about 'all things violin/viola/cello/bass' & eagerly passes that knowledge & passion for it on to others. You can look all you like but you'll never find a better person or place to care for your instrument.

What a helpful and enjoyable place! The owner, Lou, guided me with the transformation of my student-quality upright bass. He recommended a few replacement parts and excellent advise as I wanted to change my own strings on the bass. He spent a lot of time with me in the shop and the results were phenomenal! I didn't realize that instrument could sound so good! Now I know why my friends recommended him.

This is a beautiful shop! I stopped in today, and had a delightful chat with Lou, the shop owner. The space is absolutely lovely, with a functioning workshop, as well as a beautifully organized room with many violins, cellos and stand up bass' for sale. Stop by the shop to have your instrument/bow serviced and you will not be disappointed with the quality. Lou is an expert!

This is also a great shop for musicians of any skill/experience level, so no need to be intimidated! After my experience today, I will definitely stop by this shop anytime I am in town.
