Services
Mr. Rutman was very helpful and passionate about matching my 12 yr old with an instrument that he liked. He also helped him find a bow that was most comfortable and effective in his playing. There was never any sales pressure, nor any pushing on his merchandise. We tried on several instruments including his 2013 Rutman made violin.
Rutman's Violins is known for superior value and quality in instruments and bows, not only in New England, but also throughout United States and Canada. From year to year our inventory of Violins, Violas, Cellos and their bows surpass in quality and price those of our competitors. As our number of internet clientele continues to increase, we now offer trial periods for instruments and bows. Please inquire via telephone or e-mail if you are interested in arranging a trial.
Many years of experience enable us to set up instruments in ways that allow them to reach their full potential in sound. Upon entering our workshop each instrument is assessed on an individual basis, along with the needs of the player, based on their genre and style of playing. We tend to be on the conservative side, and do our best to refrain from making numerous changes all at the same time. Below are some of the common tasks we face relating to set-up. In 24 years in this field we now carved thousands bridges for our shop and clients.
Here in our workshop, we specialize in the repair & restoration of all violin family instruments. Most often damage is incurred due to low humidity, and can be returned to their owner relatively quickly. Other times, we undertake lengthy repairs on instruments that have suffered from terrible accidents.

What an incredible gem! I have searched all over for a professional luthier/violinmaker who could meet my expectations for decades and Ilya is absolutely stellar! I am ecstatic to have found him and feel privileged to have met him. He even tunes my Bosendorfer parlor grand! Ilya has the most incredibly discerning ear I have ever encountered! Artistic talent of this caliber is a rarity. Ilya is a true gem!
