Special attention goes into restoring the soundboard, if it be shimming and refinishing the original soundboard or replacing it with a new sitka spruce board. The bridges function is primarily to transmit the sound of the strings to the soundboard, which is the amplifier. We use carefully selected hard rock maple in this process.

WOW, I wish I had read David H's review (see Zinovy Pritsker PIano Craft, Co) before experiencing the cranky Russian myself. Just like poor David: 1) My upright is ancient as well-- 109 years sold in fact! But it sounds like a big booming adolescent when tuned, and I love my big grand upright so much, it has moved 3 times across the country for me. 2) I got my share of Zenov's constant, hour-long lambasting and barraging of verbal abuse and diarrhea of the mouth regarding my piano, my musicianship, my utter waste of American dollars, and the garbage-- oh the heap of garbage that we (Amercians) claim in the name of love. UNLIKE David's experience: Zenovy pummeled my piano, banging its parts around, wheeling it roughly across my wooden floor, and blasting its 109 yr old strings with his hammer-head fingers, so that he could hear his tuning fork over his own tirade.

Even my pets kept looking at me like, "what on earth is he doing to make the usually-pretty sounds so terrible to bear?" Upon handing him a check, he actually said to me, "Don't ever call me again to tune a trashy piano!" I got his message loud and clear. I think we all do now.
