Services
Maple Street Guitars is a family guitar business, incorporated in 1981 and located in Atlanta, Georgia. Initially focused on guitar lessons, classical guitars and sheet music, our business has grown through the years to include a staff of twenty and an extensive inventory of all kinds of guitars and fretted instruments.
Given our consistent flow of in-store customers and phone calls, we do recommend that you give us a call if you have any in-depth questions or inquiries (e.g., guitar comparisons, lesson information). Not only can we assist you most efficiently over the phone, but we can also provide you more complete information.
From a wide selection of strings and picks to hard-to-find small items like chord stamps, Maple Street stocks a large inventory of guitar accessories. In addition to many of the standard American picks by Dunlop and Fender, we have imported picks such as Wegen jazz and bluegrass picks and Pickboy and Golden Gate picks from Japan.
Though we are known for our outstanding selection of guitars and related instruments, Maple Street Guitars actually began as a lesson studio, and we have specialized in guitar lessons in the metro Atlanta area since 1981. Many of our teachers have themselves studied guitar, taught lessons and performed in Atlanta for an even longer time.

Excellent customer service. Staff is helpful and friendly. I called because I accidentally bumped my ukulele into a wall. I thought that I chipped the binding on my ukulele. Jake assured me that the binding on the ukulele was not chipped, but dented. He fixed it in 10 minutes. Now my uke looks as beautiful as it sounds. Thanks Maple Street Guitars and Thanks Jake.

Got some gear evaluated for selling. It didn't make sense for them to buy it, but they spent a lot of time evaluating and giving guidance/recommendations. Specific props to Lindsay Petsch, but they all were very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend stopping by.

I'm not much of a Google reviewer, but Maple Street guitars deserves my time and a 5 star rating for their hospitality, generosity, and the gracious feeling they evoke to their customers. I have never had such a pleasant experience in a music store. Lindsay is a world of knowledge and the coolest guy to chat with about all things guitar. Their attention to detail and going the extra mile to make certain everything is perfect about every instrument is something I have never encountered.

I had no idea such stores existed. I don't see myself ever buying from anyone else, ever again. Why would I? Thanks a bunch, to all of the amazing crew at Maple Street guitars!

Hands down the best guitar store in Atlanta. I've been playing instruments for most of my life and I've been in A LOT of music store but I honestly couldn't believe how friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable their entire staff was (I dealt with 3 people). This will be the only place I get my guitars from now on.

Without a doubt, 5 stars. This place is an Atlanta institution, but I never visited until I needed repairs to an older ukulele. Jake listened carefully to my needs, looked at the instrument and gave me a reasonable estimate of cost and timeline. Although someone else was waiting (patiently) in line behind me, he took his time with me. When the repairs were completed and I picked up the instrument, I talked with Lindsey (co-owner with dad George), who was also gracious with information and advise - exceedingly knowledgeable and kind.

This is the place to go for repairs to your lute instrument. Side note: I spoke with George for about 30 minutes about guitars and ukuleles, amongst other things, and he was so inviting and generous. The Petsches have a terrific shop and it is a great small business to support!

Lindsay at Maple Street Guitars sold me a high end guitar I was a little nervous to purchase from online but they described it perfectly. It actually came super fast clear across the country and in better condition that I expected! Highly recommended!

Best of all things guitar. I am primarily a classical player, and this shop is my 100% go to for scores, strings, recommendations. I got my classical and acoustic guitar from here as well. I love my Asturias and Alvarez, fair prices for high quality products. And staff is extremely knowledgeable on what is suited for needs.

Recently started playing guitar again and John was so great at giving me advice on what new guitar to get. Him actually playing the two I narrowed it down to, helped me decide. Went with the Martin 000-17 Whiskey Sunburst. So much easier to play than the classical I was playing. And sounds fantastic.

I cannot say enough nice things about my experience at Maple Street Guitars. I brought my Martin in for some TLC because I was dissatisfied with the sound I was getting. Everyone was so kind - especially George, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to play the instrument and talk with me before making any recommendations. There's a lot I don't know about guitars, so I was nervous to ask for help but the whole team was happy to share their expertise and made me feel right at home. Can't recommend enough. I will absolutely be back!

A guy I recently begun dating had to pick up a guitar that he had some adjustments made to. I've never felt so uninformative and informed at the same time. The entire staff was friendly and "my guy" who is talkative by nature stayed in here over an hour talking about guitars and what people still play now versus 30 years ago. If I had the slightest bit of musical ability and was in the market for a guitar, this is where I would head.

Although they knew I was not going to make any type of purchase, one guy walked around with me and attempted to help me understand the different brands and sizes. Also discussed amps with me like I'd remember any of that stuff ten minutes after leaving the store. Bring ya good wallet, cause it isn't cheap, but they have some beautiful guitars and ukuleles at Maple Street.

I've bought several items from this store, and the staff are all very patient with my innumerable questions by email, phone, and in many in-person visits. They know what they're talking about, the selection of instruments and amplifiers is top notch, and the repair department is quality and affordable. I would definitely shop here again.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I came multiple times to test some ukeleles. Chris was very helpful both times and allowed me to test as many as I wanted. They are flexible and responsive when you call to make an appointment. They try to make sure that they have someone who will be with you while you are browsing the store to answer any questions. You can tell that they really care about customer service. I will go back once my talent allows me to upgrade to an acoustic guitar!

Was in town and noticed a nice used tele on the website when looking up shops to check out. Went in, they let me play it til I was decided. Negotiated a bit, they were patient and tolerant of my low ball offers. Went back to hotel and slept on it. Came back next day a got a nice guitar for a fair and decent price from nice people. Went to open stage jam at the Apache that night and jammed for hours on stage with some pretty good players. All in all, not a bad 24hrs in ATL

Rarely is there a store a guitar store or any store, that has a level of service knowledge and capabilities as this father son and mother combination. They are simply put the best in the business. They're loving kind and care about the community. They don't mind if you call them 100 times because you're spending so much money. And even if you're not spending a lot of money they'll go above and beyond just for a pack of Strings. I can't recommend them enough

This is the shop to go to for quality instruments and quality care. I bought a collings om2h sunburst from them and they always take care of my baby whenever I need a setup. You know that if you leave your instrument w them, you can have peace of mind. Right now due to covid, they're about 2 weeks out in setups and repairs, so keep that in mind. Also, their showroom is only open by appointment, so give them a call and they can help you out. All the guys are passionate and knowledgeable about everything!

Just wanted to offer my appreciation to the Maple Street Guitars business and family for providing a top-notch service and experience. Over the twenty two years that I have lived in the Atlanta area, I have both "window-browsed" their fine showroom AND done business there (both purchasing of instruments and many, many repair shop visits), and my experience with all has always been consistent there: I am welcome, I am under no pressure to purchase, I can ask questions and they will provide me with as much information as they can offer, and I leave with the satisfaction of time well-spent.

I want to give a special shout-out to Jake, Dave, Jeff, and others who continue to or have provided the best repair service available in the Southeast. I've brought in traditional (Guitars) and seldom seen (walkabout dulcimer, mandocello) for set ups, pickup installation or other work, and every time the result is as though I am bringing a brand new, perfectly "tuned up" instrument home with me to enjoy. Thank you again for your expertise, dedication to delivering a great service, and for the friendships that have developed over the years. I look forward to the next visit.

Hands down the best guitar shop I've ever been to. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. I needed some fairly involved work done on my #1 guitar and wanted to make sure it was done right, so after reading all the glowing reviews of Maple Street, I decided to make the two and a half hour trip to see what the hubbub was all about.

I was not only not disappointed, I was surprised by how great the place was - the reviews did not do it justice. The tech I discussed my issues with was beyond knowledgeable and extremely attentive to every detail of both what I was describing and how the guitar itself played and took notes down on all of it; needless to say, I felt confident leaving my prized guitar with them.

They finished the work more than a week ahead of the quoted date and I was back on the road to check out the result. It was immaculate. Everything I had expressed had obviously been taken to heart as the guitar played perfectly, as if it had been made just for me. And the work didn't stop there. Every facet of the instrument had been improved: hardware was cleaned and polished including the string ferules, same with the finish, spinny strap button screws secured, pickup covers shined, the bridge plate had been cleaned under the saddles, etc.

They even went so far as to buff out the surface of the pickguard and brought it back to a glassy, store-front new smooth shine. Jake, the luthier who did the repairs, clearly takes great pride in his work and he absolutely should. It is without doubt the best I've ever had done on any instrument I've owned. And he's a super nice guy that's more than happy to chat and nerd out about guitars, to boot.

It felt like having an old friend work on my guitar. I could go on and on, and already have, about how impressed I was with the place. But, I'll just finish here by saying that Maple Street is the only place I will take my guitars for work now, regardless of the 5 hour round trip. They care about guitars, they care about what they do, and they care about their customers.

What an awesome store. These guys were so friendly and knowledgeable, far from being box readers. They called me by name the whole time which was very much appreciated. They had tons to choose for for beginners all the way up to high-end guitar collectors. Can't wait to come back and see what's available next time!

I am a big fan of this place. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful (adding just cool too). They are fairly acoustic heavy but the back room has tons of high end electric stuff as well. The repair shop is top notch as I have had them work on a few of my guitars. Easily 5 stars if not for the "ask someone to touch an instrument" policy. Its a guitar shop, not a museum

Would not come back. Came here to browse and for whatever reason, the staff followed me around pretending to browse next to me instead of a greeting or asking if I needed anything.

This is easily the most unique guitar shop in Atlanta! I recently bought a Kenny Hill "New Century" nylon string guitar from these good folks. They had a number of guitars of this quality for me to choose from. The staff was not only knowledgeable but friendly and patient as well. I'm absolutely thrilled with this instrument. And where else in Atlanta will you find not only concert quality classical guitars but also many high end steel strings, electrics, and amps. Plus.they have a full line of acoustics, electrics, and amps in all price ranges from beginner to pro. This shop should be on everyone's radar.

Recently purchased a Martin D-28 Deluxe from Maple Street Guitars, which was no small purchase so I was very lucky to have Lindsay assisting me. He was great in helping my try out different models, years and even makes to make sure I felt comfortable. I felt no pressure to buy the more expensive models or even make a purchase from the store. He let the right guitar find me and I can't thank him enough. Cheers to Lindsay!

Great staff and very VERY good techs. I had a Epiphone Les Paul for years that I finally broke down and attempted to put in some new pickups. Tried to do it myself and failed due to the previous pickup owners shorting out the wires. Jacob at Maple Street checked out the electronics, fixed the wiring, put in new volume pots and did a complete setup along with some fret crowning.

My guitar never sounded - or played - so good. This is a shop I completely trust with my gear and will be bringing all my stuff to them for any needed work. The store is very nice. All high end, beautiful guitars. If your looking for something new, they are very knowledgeable and helpful, allowing you to try anything you want and making recommendations along the way. Can't say enough good things about Maple Street and their staff - always a pleasure to stop in.

I take guitar class here from Sam McPherson and it's the best present I've ever given myself! I started learning in May and can't wait every night to get home and pick up my instrument and play. Being in my 50's and never having picked up a string instrument before I wasn't sure how difficult the classes would be, especially since I also struggle with arthritis in my hands. I'm so glad I decided to go for it!

My hands feel so much stronger for the exercise! Thanks to Sams method of teaching I am learning something new each week and playing music, not just chords and notes. So much fun! Everyone here is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable at the shop and though I've only had a peg put in the guitar for a strap I'll be updating this review when I have something else to review. Thanks again Sam!

Always a treat to go toe Maple Street. This isn't "Metro Music" (old Buckhead reference), so don't expect to walk in and pick up a guitar to start playing. ASK - they Staff will gladly assist you. Fine line of High-End guitars are reasonable prices - I've purchase two here (new and used).Lowden and Taylor.

I've been coming here for 22 years. I love these guys. No mass-produced junk here. This is a boutique experience at regular prices. Each guitar has been adjusted and tailored to bring out the best in each instrument. They've helped at least three friends of mine find the right guitars, and they've helped me find three of my own. Always patient and understanding, you can learn a lot just by conversing with the amazing staff here. Would wholeheartedly recommend for any guitarist, from beginner to advanced!

Knowledgeable and professional staff. However, not very open or interested if you look like you don't have a lot of cash. yes, "look like". Won't allow you pick up anything you aren't certain you're going to buy. "If you don't plan on buying it, it's not worth letting you touch." Their selection is nice. visually. but I have no idea what any of their products sound or feel like.

Do your research at home. not in the store. at least not in this store. Majority of their selection is high end models. Nothing less than $700. You can imagine why they're hesitant on letting anyone touch things. Understandable. String prices are alright. and their external hardware is nice. This is more of a museum than an actual store. Yet, it technically remains a business.

Think of this as a high end art museum. that sells instruments. Don't come here unless you've done your research on exactly what you want or know that you're going to spend cash on high-end quality instruments. Not a family friendly establishment. Not a walk in off the street kind of store. Straight business. Good luck (_)

You searched for guitars and you found Maple Street, you have found the meca! Welcome young guitar newbie. Enter these sacred barred doors to find a world of luscious wood and steel that will take you to other worlds. Don't waste your time at other music box stores, even if you have never played a guitar. Come my children enter the gates of Maple and be taught the truth.

This is my favorite guitar store on the planet, I drove hours just to buy my Martin from them. From $200 to 7-large they will have something to fit your needs. The staff expertise is outstanding and they will make you feel comfortable no matter what your level of ability. Love love love this place! Go now!
