Luthier Gregory Lange's whole life has been about guitars and making things with his hands. His love of music began in 1968 when he bought his first guitar from a Sears Roebuck catalog. 10 years later Lange graduated cum laude with a BFA in Sculpture from the University of North Texas, went on to pursue an art career in New York, and later moved back to Texas, earning a living as a carpenter. In 1995 he combined his passions for art, guitars and hands-on craftsmanship while apprenticing under Master Luthier Christopher Savino.

Greg's a really cool guy and does great work at reasonable prices. He also has interesting merchandise for sale. I'll probably get my next banjo here. First I guess I gotta pick up my bass, though.

I've been going to Greg since I've been in Dallas (about 7 years). He's an expert and his prices are very fair. On top of that, he's a great guy!

Best darn musical instrument shop in Texas! Greg is amazing at resurrecting instruments with a talent and attention to detail that cannot be replicated or imitated. 5 out of 5 Denton musicians prefer Little d Guitars.

Little D Guitars has moved from the old location downtown but nothing has changed about the welcoming look and feel of the place. It is a rare sort of place where musicians can go and get the straight dope and avoid mass marketing BS. It has a great selection of vintage guitars and other string instruments at reasonable prices! Gregory is the shop owner and he has vast knowledge of the arcane art of old world lutherie.

He was actually classically trained in the art as an apprentice to an old world master craftsman! I can't think of a better place or a more trustworthy person to go to and get your treasured string instrument the repairs it needs!

After going to Sky's to get a rather expensive education, I went, dubious and guitar in hand to meet the resident Rastafarian at Little d Guitars. After disparaging the previous Maestro, Gregory, he with the rocks in his hair, told me he could set everything right, plus, he would use a power tool to make it sound like a lot a dollars. I said no, no, and as I remember No.

After 3 weeks or so, I got a call and was told everything was really going so well, in fact, wouldn't I like a power tool applied to the bridge plate? It had to be the bridge plate, I told him clearly his Black and Decker was not going to touch my 70 year plus Martin. Communication failure with armed Tool. He routed the bridge, the guitar, beginning at the 12th fret sounds like a descending cat being kicked down a flight of stairs, in the key of A.

The B string is quite the opposite. He knows this. He may know very little but he knows this. I wanted the action lower, beginning with Sky. I got worse than nothing from both. Now I have a gentleman in Dallas that is sure, quite sure, I need a neck reset. Do I smell funny?

Gregory did an awesome job fashioning a new nut for my vintage Fender bass. He did the work on schedule and for a very modest price. He is a kind a gentle soul, and I would absolutely trust him again with any of my instruments. Thanks, Gregory!

I've enjoyed my dealings with Gregory at Little D. He seems to be interested in his work and has a personal passion that he's followed. I usually end up chatting with him, and feel more comfortable with his work and attitude than other folks I've use in Denton and in Austin. He's been recommended to me several times, usually after expressing discomfort with my experiences elsewhere, and I don't think I'll go anywhere else. I'm glad we've got him here in Denton.

I've brought a number of my higher end guitars to Gregory and he's always done excellent work from setups to more complex bridge work and onto electronics. He's my go-to guy in Denton for guitar work.
