Mike was recommended to us by the guitar teacher. He is VERY thorough : my kid tried several guitars back and forth to find the one that fits him the best in sound and feel. I would never think guitars can sound SO different! : Very happy with service and purchase!

Kirkpatrick Guitar studio is a wonderful place to purchase a classical guitar. We were in search of my daughter next classical guitar - something to move up from her beginner instrument and Kirkpatrick studio came highly recommended from my daughter's guitar teacher. I really appreciate the time and personal service Mike (owner) provided us. We do not have much experience with music instruments and his expertise is exactly what we need.

What impresses me most about Mike is his business approach. He asked for our budget for this guitar and he brought out many, many instruments within our budget for my daughter to try. I asked how much the guitars were and he said that he wanted my daughter to try each instrument without knowing price because knowing the price may influence how one feels about an instrument - You know.more expensive something is, the better we think it is :-).

This was such a refreshing wonderful approach. We bought a guitar that was within our budget and my daughter absolutely loves. When it's time for my daughter to move up to the next level guitar, we will definitely visit Kirkpatrick Guitar Studio.

Kirkpatrick Guitar Studio is a great place to buy a classical guitar. The owner took time to find out what I was looking for in advance of my visit. He had a few guitars waiting for me when I arrived. Based on my comments on those guitars he pulled out others for me to try. I was given lots of opportunity to play each guitar and he also played them for me so I could hear them.

He was very kind throughout the whole process and I ended up buying an outstanding used guitar. (he also had a great selection of new guitars.) After I agreed to purchase the guitar we spent some time talking about the large selection of strings he had available and he help me pick some so that I could try a variety of them out to determine what I like best.

He also had a good selection of accessories and books, although it might be best to just purchase those over the phone or the Internet as he really doesn't have a regular store set up for browsing. A bunch of friends have also purchased guitars from him and all have had similarly good experiences. By the way I don't live in Baltimore, and found the drive to the shop very worthwhile.

I remember coming to Mr. Kirkpatrick after a bad experience with a major guitar chain. He invited me to view and sample his inventory of classical guitars and assured me all guitars were kept in appropriately humidified conditions. After trying a few of his recommendations I chose an Esteve model and still play it for my flamenco guitar studies, and other finger style genres that I play till this day.

Also bought strings from him over the years plus he made an excellent luthier recommendation for installing golpeadors (luthier is David Pace by the way who makes top-notch classical guitars and is meticulous at whatever he does). Mr. Kirkpatrick has been in the Baltimore-Metro area to support the classical guitar community for some time and I know no other who specializes in what he does quite as well. He's also incredibly curtious and knowledgable. If you have any intent on beginning classic guitar studies of any kind you should start here first with Mr. Kirkpatrick.
