Just want to give a big thanks to Jon Ranney for the excellent work he performed on my vintage alto and soprano saxophones. His honest appraisal and repair work was spot on. My horns feel and sound as good as ever. And the reasonable price and prompt delivery was a definite plus. I highly recommend the folks at Ellis!

In 2004, after a 27 year absence of music, I was introduced to Ellis Music, their staff, products and services. Ellis music is truly an oasis for musicians in the Northeast. Initially, my tenor, alto and clarinet were brought back to "life". Good as "new"! Since then all my instruments have been professionally maintained by Ellis music. Also, their instrument pricing is extremely competitive which led me to buying a Yamaha Bari sax right from their stock! Bring your horn in for a "tune up", meet the staff and experience their 5 star service.

Despite pandemic constraints due to COVID19, we had fantastic service and a very personalized welcome at Ellis Music last week. All sanitary conditions were respected, yet my 11-year old daughter felt comfortable and at ease to test 3 different tenor trombones - both new and used - before selecting the one that was right for her. Denis and Joan were highly professional, courteous, and gave the right advice.

We even got offered an unsolicited quick repair from a technician for a small issue on her old trombone that we had with us. Great after-sales communication as well. We are grateful!

Called with a stuck trumpet mouthpiece and they were able to look at it and get it fixed right up. My 8 yr old is so relieved. Thank you! Great service and people!

We rented a trumpet for a year from Ellis-it was fine, but over $20 per month. When my son decided to keep playing, I spoke to his band director and bought a trumpet online for around $200. The band teacher noted that it was a good instrument when my son used it through 5th grade. When our oldest gave up trumpet, he let his little brother play with it and some of the keys became stuck.

We took it to Ellis for repair and they very haughtily told my step dad that working on that instrument was below their standards and that they won't touch it. This is not a concert level musician-this is a hand-me-down for my 6 year old! Well, now I can find someone else to repair the trumpet, I could pay over $200 per year to RENT from Ellis again or I could buy another brand new trumpet online and teach my youngest to take better care of it. Well, as Ellis is too haughty to work on the trumpet I am handing down to my elementary aged musician, we certainly won't be renting from them ever again. And I'll be telling other families in the area that buying online is an option.

Only been in once for a quick trumpet repair but it was well worth the drive from Montpelier. Fixed a sticky valve in about 15 minutes for $15.

Once I was helped my experience was great! (after I had to ask for it) However, just before that 4 or 5 people politely smiled at me and another came out from the workshop to say hi but no one felt the need to ask if I needed any help. I will say that for some, it could have looked like I was waiting for someone but to the woman who helped a customer just before me and watched me walk in and then sat and started taking calls while I STOOD at the counter looking at her and waited for some time, yea, she knew. :(

I think Ellis Music is a great company. We rented our son's oboe from them for years, and eventually used the credit they give you from renting towards purchasing him his own instrument. They were always professional, and helpful. They also were good at instrument repair if we had issues with the instruments. Overall, a professionally run music rental and repair company.

THANK YOU MATT! My daughter is taking saxophone lessons from Mr. H@#$z at HCMS using a 'loaner' from a family member which needed a repair. Matt was just great, very tactfully explaining that the instrument is not of the highest quality and also explaining our options. We did opt for a repair, the cost was in line with the estimate and completed earlier than expected and a free loaner was provided when I inquired about renting one during the repair: just an all around great customer experience! Thank you all, esp Matt, very much. If Maggie sticks with the Sax or picks up any other instrument we will absolutely shop Ellis first! thanx again:

Never rent from Ellis music! Besides not being worth the month (approximately only 60% of your monthly payment actually gets applied to your balance. Almost 40% is used for "insurance"), they just charged me almost $2000 to pay off an instrument in full, when I had been making monthly payments every month, on time, for my daughter's instrument.

They treated me like I was trying to steal their instrument even as they noted that they had agreed that they also had just charged me this month only 3 days prior. Unless you just easily have that money lying around, don't do it. They are a scam pretending like they are your nice neighbor

Just want everyone to know that the tenor sax repair guy at Ellis is a wizard! I was expecting to leave my horn for a week in order to have it fixed. He did it while I waited and then proceeded to knock out all the little dings and adjust the keys so it plays better than it did when I first got it. Kudos to Ellis, and please be nice to your saxomagician!
