Services
For over three decades, AcoustiCraft has dedicated its unique resources to the restoration and service of fine vintage and late model grand pianos. A comprehensive piano restoration facility was established in 1977 by Master Craftsman Christopher Robinson who enjoys international recognition for his work in all areas of piano remanufacture and action design.
AcoustiCraft's complete restoration of our 1917 Steinway O exceeded expectations in every way. The piano is a complete pleasure to play. The touch is perfect, responsive and nuanced. The tone is beautiful in every register and at all dynamic levels. The bass can sound bright or mellow, and the treble sustains in every octave.
The terms rebuilding, restoration, and remanufacturing are often confused. There are no objective, institutionalized definitions for any of them. The words rebuilt or rebuilding have an especially wide range of possibilities. The musician looking to buy a rebuilt piano or contract for a piano rebuilding must therefore take care that the exact nature of the work to be performed is specified and includes a catalogue of the parts to be replaced or retained. At Acousticraft, the sound and feel of your fine piano are our ultimate concerns.
AcoustiCraft carefully disassembles each instrument and re-creates the parts which require replacement. Structural components that are most subject to failure, the soundboard and pinblock, are constructed individually using music grade spruce and maple which are air-seasoned on our premises, then custom-milled and assembled.

These are good instruments if you are looking for a moderate Asian quality piano. I recently played two of Acousticrafts rebuilds back-to-back. Unfortunately I was not moved to tears. Maybe I would have been had I paid the outrageous asking price. 100% not a Steinway regardless of the name on the fall board.

Originally recommended to me by my brilliant tuner/technician, Evan Giller, I took the step of having AcoustiCraft perform a complete rebuilding on my Steinway piano. The result was one of exquisite mastery, and four years later I continue to be thrilled by the instrument. The new soundboard has the phenomenal ability to sustain massive and infinite variety of tone, and the dampers, installed by Karen Robinson, allow for a precise and sensitive ability for pedal control and key release that I had not experienced until now. I am amazed, delighted and grateful for AcoustiCraft's miraculous and dedicated work, and would recommend them to any musician without reservation.
