Services
Since 1966, AC Pianocraft has been successfully restorinwg Steinway, Mason Hamlin, Bosendorfer, Yahmaha and other fine grand pianos. When we restore your vintage piano we give it a new life; we resurrect it. Many of our clients are not only enjoying their rebuilt pianos now, but also intend to pass them on keeping them in the family for generations to come.
AC Pianocraft Inc. can refinish your piano so that it may once again look as beautiful as when it was created. We perform complete piano refinishing which involves the exterior or cosmetic look of the piano case. We have skilled and talented refinishers with years of experience who meticulously apply their expertise and knowledge to each instrument.
AC Pianocraft Inc. offers tuning services, done by the most professional tuners in the industry. We recommend that pianos be tuned at least twice a year, when seasons change. It is extremely important to acquire a tuner who is well trained and experienced. Since no license is needed to become a tuner, many "tuners" are not well trained and can actually harm your piano.
While there may be many piano restoration companies to choose from, AC Pianocraft remains the premiere piano restoration company specializing in the rebuilding of Steinways and other fine grand pianos and is recognized as a leader in its industry. AC Pianocraft, Inc. is highly regarded for its integrity, meticulous craftsmanship and quality of final product.

Unfortunately the company is not responding to phone calls and their inbox seems to be full for a long period and therefore all requests by email are "lost". The company was recommended to our business but as it is impossible to contact them, it is very sad

This review is maybe three years overdue. When I was looking for a new piano after buying what was in some ways a piece of junk, I visited this place. It's one of the most unique-looking piano galleries/workshops I've ever seen - it starts as kind of an old-fashioned living-room-type space and opens into this beautiful deco, Victorian hybrid vault filled with wonderfully restored (comsetically and playability-wise) piano treasures spanning the last 150 years or so.

And then that space opens into the workshop, if I remember right. From the outset, I made it clear to Alex that (1) I didn't know what I wanted, (2) wouldn't be willing to buy any of his high-end instruments, and (3) didn't understand pianos beyond a basic grasp. He gave me over an hour of his time to take me through the workshop, explaining everything about the inside and furniture of a piano, and exactly what to look for when buying a used grand piano.

Later that week, I found an instrument on Craigslist. I told Alex what I thought, and he offered to go and examine the instrument for free for me while visiting a family member in that area. He went and took a look, and told me exactly what it needed and how much that would cost from the majority of restorers. I didn't end up buying that piano, but it was an extremely generous gesture.

I'm thankful for the knowledge I got from visiting this gallery and speaking with Alex. I offered cash for the info I learned, and Alex joked that a Starbucks gift card for $20 bucks would be alright. I never got him that card, but offer this review in it's place!

If you value your family heirloom, I would STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO take your business to AC piano, It WILL BE RUINED! Everything that enters this chop-shop comes back lifeless and RED instead of warm, glowing and translucent. The veneer will damaged. Most people would prefer warm colours, a piano should invite you to play, a piano is sensual instrument and should look beautiful when restored, at AC piano this does NOT happen, the patina of your treasured memories WILL be RUINED, the quality of the replacement parts are SUBSTANDARD and it's way overpriced for the work and POOR quality of work.

Your opinion doesn't matter, your wishes will NOT be met or honoured because ALEX knows EVERYTHING, spend ten minuets with him and you'll soon see what I mean. You can explain away what you want and he'll deliver the TOTAL OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU ASKED FOR. YOU'VE BEEN ADVISED. I HONESTLY and STRONGLY recommend that you seek service ELSEWHERE for your family heirloom if you have fond memories and want to maintain those memories. memories isn't what AC piano craft is all about. quick, sloppy turnaround time is what most important and most important to Alex. MONEY!

The music desk on my late-model Steinway Model A broke at the hinge--a common problem, apparently--and my trusted piano tuner, Kevin Olson, referred me to Alex and AC Pianocraft with high praise. I called Alex up and arranged to bring the music desk by. When I arrived, Alex was kind and winsome, gave me a quick tour of the facility and described their work, then explained what he intended to do to repair my piece.

Since the real problem was the design of the music desk, the repair included an aftermarket modification to prevent future trouble. I left it with him and looked forward to returning to collect it. When I came for pickup, Alex showed me the work, just as it had been described and expertly finished, and gave me a very reasonable price. My music desk is now in perfect working order, and I've got new confidence that it won't be back in the shop anytime soon. I'm impressed with Alex and his team and grateful for the service he offered me here. Highly recommend!

Alex and AC Pianocraft restored/rebuilt my Steinway Model S to better than new! The piano was purchased new by my Grandmother between 1935-1940. From pick up to final delivery, I was treated like family and apprised of each phase; encouraged to visit, call or email with any questions. I now have a beautiful instrument and the legacy of my Grandmother lives on. Alex's passion for a piano's musical ability is truly a gift from God. Thank you Alex

Alexander is a master! Beyond working miracles, he is a pleasure to deal with! Your piano is in the best hands with him. We are so happy with his restoration of our 1940s Steinway baby grand, and we recommend him unconditionally.

Alexander and crew did an amazing job restoring a Steinway baby grand to its glory. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and his subcontractor who moved the piano was also top rate.

AC Pianocraft completely rebuilt our family Steinway. It looks gorgeous, plays beautifully, and sounds magnificent. Recently Alex gave me sound advice concerning another family piano -- a fair and educated opinion. The workspace in Long Island City is fabulous.

Wow! So much I want to share or maybe even say "speechless". Both work. The factory tour was a treat for both my mind and heart. Thank you, Alex.

Recently, a friend needed advice regarding a family heirloom Steinway. We had an unforgettable experience with Alex. He is passionate about what he does, is old school, and training a new generation of piano techs from the ground up. Alex was honest regarding the condition problems of the instrument needing restoration, and suggested several strategies.

He also professionally opined the money would only be worth investing if the instrument were to remain in the family as an heirloom. (extremely ethical--- a huge boon these days!) Alex gave us the name of an expert in the Boston area, who could assess the instrument in person, and possibly guide the owner toward a charity donation where the instrument would be of service.

A great experience. They are very thorough and trustworthy. I am a professional singer, and voice teacher, using my piano as a work tool, and recommend them highly. Service of this level and commitment is almost nonexistent today.
