About us

Beside being a guitar enthusiast, I am a professor at the University of Arizona, and have played classical and flamenco guitar since 1961. In fact, I earned my way through college both by playing guitar and by doing guitar repairs. When I started to fill the house with guitars, in 1996 my wife, Eva Zavaleta, started Zavaleta's La Casa De Guitarras to control my spending.

These Spanish guitars are built by individual Spanish luthiers. Because we are a guitar dealer not a retail store, our guitars are not those left after thousands of buyers have looked at them.

The pre-owned guitars in this section are listings with us, sold on commission. We do not, however, accept every pre-owned guitar offered us. As we cannot examine many of these instrument directly, we use a questionnaire and photos to judge its condition, and accept only those appear to be in good condition, and that we feel we can represent well.

Sell your guitar

Submitting your guitar for listing: We accept for listings only classical and flamenco guitars that we feel we can sell. How transactions work: The way transactions work is that the guitar remains in your possession until a buyer is found. Once a buyer pays us, we will put you in contact with them to arrange shipping.
