Questions
How do I choose the right guitar string gauge?
String gauge selection depends on playing style and hand strength. Thinner gauges (e.g., .009-.045) suit beginners and light playing, while thicker gauges (e.g., .011-.052) offer fuller tone for aggressive strumming.
Can I store my guitar vertically?
Yes, vertical storage using wall mounts is safe when done properly. Ensure the guitar is secured at the headstock and avoid extreme temperature/humidity changes to prevent neck warping.
How often should I replace guitar strings?
Replace strings when they lose brightness or develop corrosion. Average players may need monthly changes, while frequent players might replace strings weekly for optimal tone and performance.
Can I use a guitar amp as a regular speaker?
While possible, guitar amps aren't ideal for general audio playback. They're designed for instrument frequencies and may distort regular audio content. Use dedicated speakers for non-guitar applications.
How do I mute bass strings effectively?
Use palm muting technique by lightly touching strings near the bridge with your picking hand. For fretted notes, lift fingers slightly after playing to stop vibration while maintaining contact for controlled muting.
Is special maintenance required for 12-string guitars?
Yes, 12-string guitars need more frequent tuning and neck adjustments due to increased string tension. Regularly check for intonation issues and consider professional setups to maintain optimal playability.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! This has to be one of the most unprofessional, and understocked guitar shop that I have ever been to! I called and scheduled a time to have my guitar serviced here about a week ago. Nothing too big, just having the guitar setup (Strings, action etc.) The owner Todd said that it would be done Saturday. After not hearing from them I walked in and asked to see if they had it done.

He then told me it would be about another week (even after I told them I had an upcoming gig). FOR A SETUP? I took the guitar back and had it done elsewhere and had it back the same day. I've seen livelier service in a morgue compared to these "wanna be rockstars." They don't carry Gibson products and half of their walls are empty. Do yourself a favor and go to a quality guitar shop where they actually care. They clearly didn't seem alarmed that they lost a customer, so why give them another chance?

I called this guy and inquired about audio equipment. He quoted me a price of 95 bucks. I went to one of his competitors and got a price of $10. I called this shop back and the owner's response to me was, "whatever" and then hung up on me. This guy isn't worth your time. Spend your money somewhere else.

When dealing with Dave over the years, this was a stellar place to do business. For me, that ended sadly yesterday. I highly recommend Mark and the Luthier Shoppe. All I wanted to do was buy a combo amp and the "owner", while being on the phone passed me from one employee to another and then got condescending. Mark was more than happy to sell me a nice combo tube amp. Dave, thanks for the years of service and congrats to the new family addition. Troy finally sold me a small piece I wanted, but it's always sad to see an idiot that doesn't understand customer service in a place I've done business with for many years. But, like he told me: "There's always online."
