I could just stay here forever. I remember being a kid and driving past this store seeing all the clear colorful drums. 25 years later I got some.

Really helpful and passionate folks. Made selling my amp easy and enjoyable, and they gave me a reasonable amount for it too.

I sold a used synth here today and it only took like 10mins, the store was cozy but lighting is a little harsh if u are photosensitive, since they have shade covers on the large windows it is dimmed natural light + flourescent. anyways everyone was super chill and i'm looking forward to coming back. You might wanna prepare to circle block for parking, but if you cant find any, flip a u and look for curbs in the residential area down raevanna.

Pretty good pedal selection. Super friendly staff. Electric guitar selection was alright. The acoustic room was nice with some great value pick ups, but they have an oddly large amount of Washburns. Nothing against them, but I'd like to see more variety in brands. Also, a surprisingly large amount of guitars were out of tune. It gets annoying having to tune every guitar you try out. One or two is okay, but I played maybe 20 guitars in total and probably about 12 were out of tune. Not the best image for upkeep of guitars.

Cool place with lots of good used gear. I bought a used Fender bass amp here and I love it. The employees could be more enthusiastic though. Seems like they just want to go home. Take pride in your job and being a part of the local music scene. Being apathetic about your job will drive your business straight to Guitar center. Overall, good experience.

Staff members are incredibly helpful & full of info about all of the products they have. If they can't answer questions immediately, they are very quick at reasearching recommending people and other businesses who can. Trading Musician is & remains an absolute Seattle Staple!

Great, professional yet laid back store. Went to sell my guitar. They gave me a fair price. It looks like they have a very large selection of acoustic guitars.

Went in today to sell my guitar. Nice people and great vibes. I was able to tell right away that these people truly love and care about music from how they handle instruments and talk to their customers.

This store has it all. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and their gear is really cool (prices are pretty reasonable too). I'm never buying gear from any other store again. This will always be my go to store as long as I live in Seattle.

Sold me a banged up guitar that I liked but the headstock fell off after about 6 months. I freaked out but they traded it out for a new guitar and put the cost of my case and strap towards the replacement so I actually came out with a much better guitar than what I purchased originally. Knowledgeable staff who are remarkably tolerant of children with drumsticks and there are always a couple of really weird synths to poke at. One of my fav places in Seattle to idle away time and spend money. And the bathroom has really tacky Jesus poetry.

High five to Trading Musician for being so awesome. That also includes the staff. This place is a music lovers dream! Stock from floor to ceiling with used gear like amps, keyboards, guitars (even odd finds like left handed guitars) and display cases full of peddles. The upstairs is littered with used drum kits if you're into that kind of music instrument as well.

If you're looking to find replacement parts there is a pretty good selection as well. Pick up a pack of strings, some new tuning keys or even something as simple as a guitar strap. They have it all. Check online to see what their current inventory is. The pictures aren't the most accurate of descriptions so you should probably just drop by and look in person (hint, hint.) I was going to buy a used bass, which is in really great condition and bring it on the plane.

The staff being awesome like they are, suggested I buy it online and ship it. It was packed nicely and didn't have any sort of damage whatsoever. Cool guys, super nice and very helpful! Check it out because you never know what you'll find here hanging on the wall. While you're at it pull a guitar down and plug it into an amp.

Really great people who care about music and musicians. A music store that truly caters to the gigging musician with top notch instruments that are priced reasonably. No gouging going on here! These guys are just awesome. Thank you for the amazing Ludwig Hammered Bronze Snare Drum. It was priced fairly and the shipping was reasonable. The drum was expertly packaged to withstand the delivery process and it arrived in perfect shape, just as described. This was a really fantastic buying experience. It's a gem! 5 Stars!

Wow! Just wow! We were in town to tour UW and my son asked if there were any guitar shops around. Thank you Yelp! This place was exactly what we were looking for. HUGE selection of electric, acoustic, amps, banjos, ukulele, accessories and upstairs were drums. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

The manager I spoke with on the phone was pretty condescending when he was explaining what used instruments are worth. I have owned over a hundred guitars in the last decade so I know what market value is. I figured I would give these guys a shot but don't appreciate how I was spoken to. I have spoken with other stores who may not have provided me the evaluation I wanted but we're not condescending.

I notice how the owner responds to these reviews and this will not change my opinion in the least. As a business owner myself instead of sarcastically responding to comments maybe he could take note and try to improve the store. You don't always have to agree with customers yet to consistently shake off feedback is a red flag to me. They did not have a good selection either and having researched many used gear it seems overpriced. Anyways if you enjoy this place it's fine but I won't trade in my gear here as many other people have said low all evaluations even considering retail/ wholesale and profit margins.

I've been a long time customer of this place. I wish I could give it more stars, but the attitudes from the guys behind the counter make it incredibly hard to do so. Pretty arrogant, rude and not always super helpful. It's a shame, because there is some awesome musical gear at this place, but the feeling from 20 plus years ago is gone. And all I needed this last time was a simple pickup for my acoustic. Dusty Strings will be getting my business from now on.

Great selection of guitars, came in looking to purchase a few after my collection was stolen and got to try a vast array of incredible guitars until I found two till my liking. One of them was in layway which sucked but at least I have something to look forwards to. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and overall had a great time. Will be back again!

This place is incredible. Here you can find all kind of instruments for playing music. There are a huge variety of options. Very cleaned and organized. The staff is wonderful. They gave us very good suggestions about what we were looking for. For someone who enjoys playing an instrument and is in search of a good one, I think this is the right place. Everyone was keeping social distancing and wearing a mask. This is important nowadays.

All I can say is WOW! I had some guitars that I was looking to trade in for something different. I went to Guitar Center and they insulted me with such a low offer that it was unbelievable. Then I went to another Guitar shop up in Everett and the same thing. I can tell that both places prey on musicians who are having a hard time making ends meet and steal their gear.

What a horrible way to treat the same people who are your customers. Luckily I was not in a position where I needed money. I was just looking to trade some nice guitars for something different. I had been to the Trading Musician before buying some pedals so I figured I would give them a try. And what happened reminded me of what music stores were like 30 years ago.

Great atmosphere, and fair dealing. I went in with my guitars and traded them straight across for a guitar that I wanted. We both got great value in the trade and I couldn't be happier. If your looking to buy, sell or trade I highly recommend that you go see them. That is where I will be doing business from now on. Thanks Guys.

The staff here is remarkably helpful, honest, and patient and there's a wide variety of guitars and other instruments. They let me play different guitars for literally hours and answered all my questions. They have guitars from about $200 to thousands so there's something for everyone. Ideal place to buy used instruments or gear - got a guitar case for only $50 and an amp for only $40. Highly recommend

Bought an instrument from here that had to be held for a while. Came back on pickup day just to find they had sold it to someone else while I was waiting. Not how I would run a business but pop off I guess.

They've been more than helpful to my drumming needs. I've also found treasures for my guitar. I appreciate their time in helping me furnish my drum kit, help find parts and giving me fair price with excellent customer service. Even though I'm a little new at identifying gear, they were patient in helping figure out what I'd need. I'll continue visiting for my music needs.

The gear is great and SOME of the staff are ok but some, not so much. The girl with the tattoos and the black hair was very rude and dismissive. I was asking some questions about the area because I am new here and she was giving me one word answers and not paying attention along with no eye contact. My brother had his mask just a tiny bit bellow his nose and she stopped everything she was doing to go up to him and demand to put it over his nose. No please and no thank you just pure rudeness. For that this deserves 1 star and I will not be bringing my business elsewhere.

This is a super cool store. Cannot recommend it highly enough! While the new guitar center up the street has many copies of the same brand new instruments, T.M. has a wide assortment of used & a few new instruments, with the occasional gem of an antique hiding in there. They dont mind if you sit in there and play the guitars, either. Prices are great and the employees are all musicians who love their jobs. and they'll work with you on a lay away scenario if you are a poor person. Also, they have the best sign out front! I love Trading Musician.

Almost everyone there was pretty cool and helpful, but Ryan's an asshole. I went in to sell my guitar. I didn't really want to, but I don't have the space and I needed the cash. It's a weird one, so I was hoping they'd know what to do with it. Sure, I was pretty disappointed when they told me I wasn't going to get what I wanted for it, but, like I said, I really don't have the space and I was almost willing to let it go.

But then the guy kept talking. Every word oozed with condescension. Every sentence dripped with a special brand of unaware smugness I'd thought only existed in the Los Angeles scene. It became clearer as we spoke he hadn't really done too much research into the guitar in question. I was too put off by his general aura to attempt schmoozing or even haggling.

Call it exhaustion or maybe gag reflex, but I took my guitar home. Before I left one of the other guys --Joe, I think-- offered some advice on where to find a potential buyer and gave me some useful perspective on the value of the guitar. I'd been in the day before and everyone I talked to had a good, straight-shooting vibe. By and large it seems like a really great spot, but I'm hard pressed to go back after talking to that bloviating bespectacled blowhard.

The Trading Musician is a Seattle treasure--they've got an ever-changing one of a kind collection of instruments--a great place to visit just to try out some instruments. I've always found the staff helpful rather than indifferent or intimidating. Worth stopping by every few months because you truly never know what you'll find!

Absolutely a great place and one of the only places to find old drum hardware and vintage drum gear around Seattle. They are ALWAYS, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Remy in the drum dept. is a fountain of information; from Gretsch to Ludwig to WFL and the transition periods in between! This guy is AWESOME! Every piece of equipment I have sold them (amps, drums, etc.) has been purchased at a fair price and every piece of equipment I have purchased from them has been solid. Keep up the great work!

As I promised my SO an Ukulele for christmas it was time to look for one. We entered the Trading Musician, were greeted friendly and had some time for us to look around and lay hands on some instruments. After a few minutes one of the employees offered some help, provided us with information and showed us their Ukuleles. After that we had more time to try the instruments and finally found one my SO would be happy with.

For a few bucks we got a gig bag for the new instrument and on our way out a recommendation for a good teacher. Everyone was friendly, the people were the typically slightly confused style of people that work in music shops and the variety of instruments was huge (new ones and used). Would definitely come back again.
