Now that people can gather in a limited way, my family chose to have my mother's burial service this week and asked me to play flute at the ceremonies. I haven't played in years having sold my flute years ago to pay bills. David at La Jolla music found an appropriate used flute for me to purchase. I couldn't test it due to COVID restrictions which is completely understandable.

When I got it home, I found it wasn't a good fit for me. I emailed the store and received a quick response from David. He allowed me to return that instrument and select one that turned out to be just perfect for my needs. David was extremely professional and friendly. I highly recommend visiting this store for instruments for you or your children. I didn't realize how much space this store had as well for lessons and instruction. Very impressed and grateful. Thank you, La Jolla Music

This place is great to bring your kids in for lessons of all kinds! It's very clean and there is a comfortable waiting area and great teachers. My son takes bass lessons with Tony Muhammed and he's the real deal. Easy street parking and payments. My son loves it!

At least for lessons there is a wide selection of excellent teachers, most who offer a free first lesson. The staff is friendly and the email lesson reminders are helpful.

La Jolla Music is a great place to learn music. The site is expanding with more practice rooms. Joshua Voss is my son's guitar teacher. He is wonderful and works with his student to tap their full music potential. Kelly Duley is my other son's piano teacher. She is a great teacher and I would highly recommend her.

My son and I came in to check on a saxophone rental a few days ago, and unfortunately they didn't have any available. I left my name and number for them to contact me upon any returns, not really expecting a call. As promised, Eric I believe, called me the next day to let me know they just had one return from the shop. When I went to pick it up, the man and woman behind the desk were very helpful with all of my questions, which made me feel at ease due to my lack of musical experience. We plan on looking into lessons as well.

Very nice and knowledgable staff! The store is well stocked and nearly always has the parts I need for instrumemt repairs. The teachers are talented, specific shout outs to the very talented Jonathan Nussman and also to the front desk guy Jaw.

This place is amazing! It's my second time getting private cello lessons and I'm already amazed. I'm really improving and I recommend this place to everyone.

I am Laila Mirkazemi, I am playing the violin. I am in Kelly Duley class. I have been practicing with her for about 3 years. And I feel that I have improved so much after being in her class. She gives me such amazing, fun songs. These songs make me want to practice. She challenges me instead of giving me easy songs so that I can improve. I have loved the sounds of all instruments, and it would be amazing to be able to try another.

If anyone is looking for a music teacher. Then this is the place. They have so many different instrument teachers. Thank you! Hint: it would be amazing to try a new instrument, maybe a. melody harp!?

My kids take music lessons here - saxophone (with Eric) And clarinet (with Stefanie) and they are both learning so much and having a great time doing it. We are extremely happy. La Jolla Music has been a great place to rent instruments, buy them and get repairs. I highly recommend it for all your music needs!

It is without hesitation that we recommend Evan Walsh to anyone looking for any outstanding trumpet teacher. Evan motivates my son to practice and my ten year old son looks forward to his trumpet lesson each week. Thank you, Evan, for encouraging a love for music.

My daughters take violin lessons from Kelly Duley at La Jolla Music. They adore their teacher, and we love the space. I appreciate the location, the welcoming atmosphere, and the clean comfortable studios. The shop offers a beautiful variety of instruments, sheet music, and books for learning every kind of instrument and music theory. We recommend La Jolla Music to anyone who loves music or is looking for a perfect place to receive the best education in music.

La Jolla Music is a great store and practice location. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have music/instruments/practice rooms/instructors. My daughter has attended weekly cello lessons which has helped her excel past many of her peers and older cellist. Thank you La Jolla Music!

We started coming here Fall 2014. Both our kids are taking lessons from Josh Voss. He is a fantastic guitar teacher! Our boy likes rock and our girl is into country/pop. Not sure why the ratings are low here, but we've never had a problem with the front desk, scheduling, guitar rental for a month, or lessons. Everyone is more than courteous and professional; and with Josh - highly skilled guitar teacher.

The La Jolla Music from under the old ownership is completely unrecognizable from the new store! After the ownership and location changed, the store completely renovated. Now La Jolla music has a much bigger facility and has a nice lounge area for anyone waiting for a lesson. The employees are all very friendly and are willing to answer all your questions about lessons, instruments, etc.

The teachers are also very highly skilled and work with people of all ages and all levels. This is great place to check out for music lessons or just to buy some sheet music. (They also have a good selection of Beatles stuff, if you're a sixties fan.) I agree with Alison P's review that all problems with La Jolla music were probably solved under the new owner.

They still have the poorest selection of woodwind accessories, but not having to see that lady who is always following you around as if you were going to steal from her. B

This store has wonderful employees who are very knowledgeable and friendly - easy to work with. However, after renting from them for several years, paying on time, loyal customers, we weren't offered any better deal on the instrument than anyone who walked in off the street - and the price of the instrument many hundred dollars more than the other shops in town. Wish I had rented from the other shops, am now feeling trapped into paying substantially more than the instrument is worth solely because of the equity from our rental.

La Jolla Music is a store where part of La Jolla youth meets to perfect its musical talent. Almost every instrument is taught and sold here. I find the rates a bit steep though: $25 for half an hour of violin instruction; who divides lessons into hour halves? Beats me.
