The owner of Gorsett Violin Shop ripped my ex-fiance off by selling her a violin that was warped all over (the fingerboard, neck, bridge and tuner piece were all badly warped). When I tried to get her help in buying it back because we were in dire straights financially due to medical bills, she was callous and indifferent at what she had done. Screw Gorsett Violin Shop.

This place is all facade and no heart. Don't spend your money here. There are other shops in town that will treat you right and have better expertise when it comes to violins and other stringed instruments.

I got invited into a beautiful room with cases of beautiful bows in different price ranges. I got to test them and found one that I adore. It was very personalized to my needs. It was like going to a violin spa.

I have called this lady 3 times to buy a violin string she isn't there and never answers.

We have used Gorsett Violin Shop exclusively for more than five years, first with a rental, and then with purchases. We have always been pleased with Loryn's service and the instruments we have both hired and purchased from her. Furthermore, she has a pretty good range of instruments within the price spectrum most students would use. My daughter's current violin (Century Strings Antonio Fiorini Model V650) was purchased through Loryn.

This violin is a good step-up instrument and my daughter says it is responsive and has a big, even sound across the strings. UPDATE: Recently, my daughter complained about an unusual resonance, and although we could not hear what she meant, we took it in to Loryn. Loryn played it and made adjustments to the sound post. Needless to say, my daughter was very pleased with the results.

THE WORST PLACE :This is the worst place to purchase a cello. I have had it over a year and it has been worked on a total 5 times. She refuses to give my daughter a good cello. DO NOT RENT OR PURCHSE FROM THIS LADY. Unless you or you will be going up to go 3 times a year to get it fixed and she was really rude to my daughter.

She repaired my violin's cracked sound board beautifully and in a short time. I'm very pleased.

I do not recommend going here for bow repair. I had my viola bow rehaired by her barely two years ago, and just last week my bow hairs popped off during a rehearsal. Two years may sound like a long time, but this shouldn't ever happen if a bow was rehaired properly; even my cheap bow from middle school hasn't broke yet after a lot of abuse. I'm now having my bow repaired by a professional bow maker, and he told me that she did a bad job and actually damaged part of my bow's tip by prying out the block that holds the hairs in, then sloppily glued the new hairs and block in.

I remember that Mrs. Gorsett was nice until I called and asked about the progress on my bow and when it would be finished. I wanted to know because i had a busy college schedule. That seemed to bother her. I was excited to see my bow when i picked it up, and I thanked her kindly, yet she was rather unfriendly towards me and made passive aggressive comments on how I called her. I really hope she didn't intentionally do a bad job on my bow because she was so bothered by a phone call. Regardless, I am disappointed.

I had a century old violin repaired (They were pretty heavy repairs if I might add. Took about 7 weeks for the whole project to be complete) by the owner and it came out beautifully with a very nice sound. I also took private lessons with the owner which were very helpful and fun! I would definitely suggest coming here for repairs/ lessons.

I just rented my first cello from the owner, Loryn. The process was simple, straight forward, and the price was very competitive for the quality of the cello that I got. :
