Goodall Guitars was formed in 1972 with a simple premise which became our mission statement, Acoustic Excellence. This means that our purpose is to build instruments with superbly rich tone, refined designs and appointments, and the greatest playability available in an acoustic guitar. We think of our guitars as a musical tool and strive for elegant design executed with precision, comparable to that of a master built violin.

Our philosophy is to create the finest instruments available at any cost. Offering tasteful appointments, we avoid overly extravagant cosmetic options and allow the natural beauty of the woods to tell their own story.
Services
Standard Scale or the powerful 28 Baritone, whatever you choose - it'll have our signature sound and playability. Every guitar that we build is made by hand, with acoustic excellence, specifically for the buyer. Below, you can also choose to view the models by unique categories, or by their distinct series, giving you the option to choose by playing style or by visual appeal. The in depth detail pages display our standard options for each model, and they are all completely customizable from that starting point.
These categories divide our models by their unique features. The models listed below each section may have the listed feature as a standard configuration, or they may have that feature as an option. The standard setup of 6-strings is excluded from this list of categories, because it would simply duplicate the list of all of our models under a 6-string category.
Your soundboard tonewood is going to produce the majority of your guitar's tonal characteristics, with the back and sides influencing the rest. Different woods produce different tonal characteristics and each species has it's own unique aesthetic qualities. You're looking for the best acoustic tone available, and we endeavor to consistently deliver on that desire regardless of the chosen tonewood species.
Choose from our myriad options below to customize your Goodall Guitar. We offer many types of striking shell inlay, beautiful binding wood species, cutaway styles, custom setup options, and pickup choices, so that you can design an instrument that is uniquely yours. Our standard bindings wrap the edges of each Goodall Guitar around the peghead, the body, and are matched with the inlaid end graft.

We visited the production space while visiting Fort Bragg last Friday -- thanks for the tour, Jean! So cool to see the beautiful woods, workspace, and craftsmanship that goes into these guitars. We had a nice chat with luthier James Goodall who makes each instrument by hand, with his son Luke, pictured here. If you're looking for a custom, handcrafted guitar, it's definitely worth checking out Goodall Guitars. The following day, we were sitting outside at Princess Seafood, enjoying the first Dungeness crab of the season, and there was a musician playing a Goodall.

These are among the finest guitars made on the planet. I own two a Koa Grand Concert and a Rosewood Jumbo Cutaway. They speak to you in a way no other instrument can. James Goodall is one of most nicest people around.

Acoustic Excellence. What an amazing workshop and showroom. Some of the finest, hand-made acoustic guitars I have ever seen or heard. The owners are exceptionally nice, and beyond knowledgable. Quite impressive.
