In 2003, I decided to build up a small teaching studio at my house until I reached 10 students. Many of these first students were castaways from friends who taught piano in the Seattle area. They often called me and said, Michael, I don't know what to do with this kid or adult student. I think they have potential but they are driving me crazy because they don't fit in with what I typically do. It became obvious within a few months that my little studio was for the misfits. We obviously failed at keeping the enrollment to 10 students.
You will know whether our online lessons are a good fit for you after a short, 30-minute free trial lesson. Former students have performed or collaborated with artists such as John Legend, Wynton Marsalis, Tinashe and Travis Scott.

Fantastic school that made music fun for our kids. Both have been going since they were close to 5 years old and are now 9 and 11 years old. The school is taught by young, talented musicians who balance everything from jazz to popular to classical. Check out there rock camp videos on YouTube and it gives you a sense that the kids go their to make music not just learn it. It is the one extracurricular activity that has stuck.

This music school is wonderful! My daughters have been attending CMA for almost a decade. They have been consistently enrolled in piano lessons here and have dabbled in guitar, voice lessons, studio recording and Summer Rock Star Camp. Most (if not all) of the teachers are working musicians. They are all committed to their craft and are stellar role models for the budding musician.

I really appreciate CMA's teaching philosophy. Children are encouraged to build a habit of practicing (even if it's just 10 minutes per day) but also to 'noodle around', compose their own pieces and collaborate with other student musicians. Performances are supportive and low-stress opportunities for kids to get on stage. Teachers are patient and they individualize curriculum for all levels and interest; from very young children in group lessons to children with special needs to adults -- jazz, pop-music, classical and show tunes. CMA has been a constant in my children's lives for a long time, we consider our teacher family and I cannot recommend the school highly enough!

CMA is a fantastic music school for both kids and adults. Both my kids studied music here, and I was so enamored with what they learned, I decided to take lessons myself. I love that CMA teaches the music you want to listen to and play and doesn't force you to start with classical music. I like Rock and Pop and that's what I get to learn and play.
