Gloves in a bottle is a lotion that dries into an impervious film that keeps the moisture in your skin. It is available at many drug stores and online. For those cracks in your fingers that hurt, I suggest Transpore Tape. It is available in drugstores and just a small piece of this tape will cover up the crack and not interfere with work or piano playing.

Ron Berry is a piano tuner technician and has been serving the Indianapolis, IN area since 1972. Ron began his career as a technician for the Indianapolis Public School System, taking care of thousands of pianos in all of their schools. In 1979 he left IPS to work for himself and has had his own piano service business since that time.

Look for notes that sound terribly out of tune when played by themselves. Most of the piano has three strings per note. The strings wrap around a steel tuning pin which is set into a wooden pinblock. When the pinblock goes bad it can't hold the tuning pins tightly and a tuning pin will slip. This leaves one of the three strings very flat to the others.
